Elmer E. Whitmore Jr.

Elmer E. Whitmore Jr., 89, of Tecumseh, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at a Topeka hospital. He was born June 15, 1935 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Elmer E. and Edith (Jackson) Whitmore Sr.

Elmer graduated from high school in St. Joseph. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Elmer earned a Master’s Degree in Sociology. He was employed by the Jackson County Juvenile Court System as a Social Worker. He moved to Tecumseh in 1972. Elmer worked for the Shawnee County Youth Center where he served as the Director until 1991. He then devoted his time to his business, Whitmore Auction Estate Liquidators.

Elmer married Gloria A. Paz on June 4, 1961 in El Paso, Texas. She survives. Other survivors include two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Elmer was preceded in death by two children, Kelly Whitmore and Michael Whitmore.

A private Celebration of Elmer's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
