Kathleen L. Graves, 93, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020. She was born January 11, 1927 in Kincaid, Kansas, the daughter of Alva and Edith (Britton) Macklin.
Kathleen graduated from Garnett High School in Garnett, Kansas in 1944. Following graduation, she took a short course at Santa Fe Railroad and became a Teletype Operator and worked in Topeka and Chicago. Later she moved to Longview, Washington and worked for the Longbell Lumber Company as a Teletype Operator and Secretary. After moving back to Kansas, she worked for the Kansas State Department of Transportation and Department of Education where she retired from. She also made a lot of crafts before and after retiring.
Kathleen married Kennedy L. "Ken" Graves on February 2, 1952 in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2010. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Edward Macklin.
Survivors include children, Gary (Jody) Graves of Holton, Janet Graves of Topeka and Clifford Graves of Berryton, four grandchildren, Robert (Angie) Graves of Carl Junction, Missouri, Sara (Wes) Koelling of Topeka, Amy (Ben) Faunce of Olathe and Tyler (Amanda) Graves of Lenexa, eleven great-grandchildren, and her four sisters, Norma Lister of Topeka, Glenna Maxey of Overland Park, Barbara Krysztof of Baldwin and Louise Oliver of Oswatomie and many extended family.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Mount Hope Cemetery.
