Jon K. Puff, son of Charles R. and Iryllis Dee Gronquist-Puff, was born December 4, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas. He departed this life quickly and unexpectedly on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the age of seventy-four years young.
Jon was raised in the Topeka area and graduated from Topeka High School, Class of 1965. Jon was united in marriage to Maxine "Debbie" Rose Balusek on October 4, 1968, at Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas. Added to this union were two daughters and a son; Kawehilani Samanda, Kristopher Jon, and Sarahbeth Anne.
Jon served and sacrificed for this country in the United States Army for thirty-eight and a half years, honorably serving one tour in Vietnam. Prior to retirement, Jon also worked for the railroad for thirty-six years; first at the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Signal Shop in Topeka, Kansas, later at the BNSF Railway in Springfield, Missouri.
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Maxine "Debbie" Rose Puff; two daughters, Kawehilani (Brady) Liggett and Sarahbeth (Darin) Brock; nine grandchildren, Tyler Liggett, Tyson Brock, Konar Hinman, Katelynn (Jordan) Williams, Ashlynn Bell, Brooklynn Bell, Abigail Liggett, and Madilynn Brock; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Other survivors include his siblings Richard (Penny) Puff of Topeka, KS; Robert "Bobby" (Vicki) Puff of Hernando, MS; Bradford "Skippy" (Pam) Puff of Maple Hill, KS; sister Alice Schimmel of Maple Hill, KS, and sister-in-law Ruth Puff of Topeka, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles R. and Iryllis D. Puff; an infant son Kristopher J. Puff; his parents-in-law William J. and Maxine R. Balusek; two brothers, David Puff and James "Jimmy" (Patti) Puff; and a brother-in-law Dennis Schimmel.
Throughout his life, Jon shared a hobby with his wife of painting with watercolors and oils. Jon loved to sip tea and coffee on his back porch, take road trips to Branson, travel to Arkansas for Bargains Galore on 64 to look for "shiny things", and cook and smoke meat. Above all, he loved to spend time with his family. His grandchildren had his heart. He was a loving husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend. To know him was to love him. We celebrate his life and will always treasure the memories we have.
