James Michael O'Connor, 66, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023.

He was born May 30th, 1957, in Hays, Kansas, the son of James Marrion and Charlene Beth (Proctor) O’Connor.

Jim was employed as an electrician for 25 years, retiring in 2007.

Jim married Marcia Mosiman on August 22, 1992 in Topeka. She survives, along with his stepson Jason Mosiman of Topeka; sister-in-law Barbara (Don) Helmick; several nieces and nephews; and his parrot, Sam. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Gene Mosiman and Gene’s wife Eva.

Jim loved to cook, barbecue (competitively), set up and shoot fireworks as a pyrotechnician, and play pool in several leagues. He was a huge Chiefs and KU Basketball fan.

Jim was cremated. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. A private family interment will be at Sabetha Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604-3720.
