Larry Dale McPherson, 80, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023.

He was born November 24, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Wallace D. McPherson and Reland H. (Pfost) McPherson Webb. He graduated from Carbondale High School in 1960.

Larry was employed by Roadway Express from 1970 to 1996, when he retired.

Mr. McPherson was a member of the Teamsters Local 696.

Larry married Patty R. McLucas in 1963; she passed away in 2008. He then married Janell Greer Campbell on May 8, 2009 in Flandreau, SD. She survives, along with his children Robert D. (Cheryl) McPherson of Berryton, KS and Rebecca D. Tibbs of Topeka; grandchildren Ethan R. McPherson (Kelsi), Scot A. Tibbs (Halimah) of Aurora, CO, Shelby D. Tibbs (fiancé Billy Teters) of Topeka and Emily K. McPherson (fiancé Hunter Witt); six great-grandchildren and one on the way; step-sons Lee Benaka (Danielle) and Chad Benaka (Margaret); three step-grandchildren; and his sister Wanda Sisco; twenty-five nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Lorene F. McPherson McDowell Sprouse, Dorles D. McPherson Hillis, Wallace D. (Mac) McPherson Jr., Virgil E. McPherson Sr., Raymond R.R. McPherson, Duane L. McPherson; and two nieces and a nephew.

Larry loved cars, tractors, and anything with an engine. He collected antiques and enjoyed going to estate sales and auctions. But most of all, he loved his family.

Larry was cremated. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3rd at the Dove Cremations and Funerals Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Avenue in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to B and C Equine Rescue Inc, 740 W 125th, Carbondale, KS 66414 or the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604-3720.
