Thomas Scott Romig, 87, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

He was born July 12, 1936, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Glenn and Helen (Scott) Romig. He graduated from Clay County High School in 1954 and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washburn in 1961.

Thomas was employed by State Farm for 31 years, retiring as a claims superintendent.

Mr. Romig was a member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church, serving as choir director for 30 years. He was later a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Thomas married Jane Alice McCammon on December 20, 1959 in Tecumseh, Kansas. She survives, along with their children Gretchen M. VanBuskirk (Rex) of Overland Park and Gregory B. Romig (Allie) of Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren Jesse Romig, Carolina VanBuskirk and Hannah VanBuskirk; and his sister Jane Brehm. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson Frank Romig; and his siblings Glenn R. Romig and Margaret Hazel.

Thomas enjoyed making art and woodwork, including making furniture and cabinets.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, August 2nd at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church at 600 SW Topeka Boulevard. A private graveside service will be at a future date at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Avenue in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church 600 SW Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, KS 66603 or Tecumseh United Methodist Church, 334 SE Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh, KS 66542.
