Arthur Dale “Artie” DeBacker, Jr., 80, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
He was born May 17, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Arthur D. and Johanna M. (Schoefield) DeBacker, Sr. He was a 1961 graduate of Hayden High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Arts from Washburn University in 1972.
Artie was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years and later volunteered for the Kansas Historical Society in Topeka.
He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka.
Artie married Patricia “Patty” Marsh on December 21, 1968 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2015. Survivors include his daughter, Nicole Andersen; his sisters, Jane McIntyre and Dona Nordstrom; five grandchildren; his niece, Cindy Davies; and his sister-in-law, Donna Antin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael DeBacker.
Artie enjoyed his critters, electronics and guns.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., in the far West row of the Valley Falls, Cemetery, Valley Falls, Kansas.
