Wanda Jean McDaniel of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at a Topeka care facility at the age of 79. She was born November 20, 1943 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of George Elra and Vessie (Adams) Chamberlain.

Wanda attended school in Houston, and grew up to become a beautician as a young woman and transitioned into being an employee and advocate for Goodwill Industries thereafter. She held numerous jobs throughout her life, yet like most mothers she was always most concerned about her five children.

Wanda first married Michael M. Cunningham on October 10, 1960. From this union, her sons Michael and Jason, and daughters Shelly and Keneda were born. Her husband Michael preceded her in death in 1994. She later married Donald R. McDaniel on February 17, 1976, and from this marriage James McDaniel was born. Donald also preceded her in death on June 23, 1978. Survivors include all her children, Michael Cunningham of Montana, Shelly Adwers of Texas, James (spouse: Michelle) McDaniel of Topeka, Jason Cunningham of Texas and Keneda Fenner of Montana. She is also survived by her sisters Kathy Dover, Francis Hunter, and Keneda Gravera; and one brother Donald Chamberlain, all of Texas. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers Charles, Ronnie, and Derrell Chamberlain. Her grandchildren are Sarah, Raul, Alex, Anthony, Adrian, Fabian, Abigail, and Angelo. Her great-grandchildren are Jack and Scarlett.

Wanda was of the Baptist Faith, and please know that a minister of God came to her bedside to give her peace. You are encouraged to remember and celebrate Wanda's life in your own way.

In accordance to Wanda's wishes, her cremated remains will remain inurned with her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Goodwill Industries of Topeka, 5515 SW 21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.

Dove Southeast Chapel in Topeka, Kansas, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
