Willis Neal "Bill" Weidner
1943 - 2023

Willis Neal "Bill" Weidner, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023. He was born on February 3, 1943, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Orpha (Collins) Weidner and Willis Herman “Bill” Weidner. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1961 and Washburn University in 1971. His career path included service in the US Army as well as employment as a management analyst with the State of Kansas and production manager at Luce Press Clippings.

For those who knew him well, Bill was a smart, talented, funny and caring man who loved his family and friends. He liked figuring out how things worked and fixing things that didn’t work and helping others do that. He enjoyed designing and building things, photography, ceramics, food preparation and presentation, entertaining others, KU sports, KC Chiefs, and most of all cars.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda (Gundelfinger) Weidner of 55 years at home; son Nick Weidner of Scottsdale Arizona (Janelle Markegard); brother Sam Weidner of Estes Park, Colorado; sister Cindy (Weidner) Morrison of Salina, Kansas (Robbie Morrison); brother Woody Weidner of Topeka (Barbara Weidner); and furry friend and “wingman” Corkie of the home. He was preceded in death by both parents.

A private graveside service will be held for Bill on November 4, 2023 at Mount Hope Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Open House is scheduled for Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 3846 SW Lincolnshire Road in Topeka from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Opportunity for toasts and tributes will be made around the 4 o’clock hour.
