Doris Kay (Wichers) Haas, 82, of Silver Lake, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

She was born September 3, 1941, in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of C. “Doc” and Joyce (Bos) Wichers. She graduated from Downs High School in 1959. Following high school, she attended Asbury Hospital School of Nursing, Salina, Kansas earning her Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing in 1964.

Doris was a member of Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, of Topeka. She served the church in many capacities as the Tele-Care coordinator, Assistant Coordinator of Care Ministry and Prayer Chain.

She married Larry Haas on May 29, 1964 in Dispatch, Kansas. Later in life they enjoyed going to the Precious Moments Chapel twice a year and they had an extensive collection.

Doris enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s activities and social events.

She leaves behind her children, Michelle (Tommy) Kees, Mike (Kim) Haas and Mark (Kim) Haas; her grandchildren, Melanie Walker, Trevor Haas, Hunter Haas, Chris Cross, Matthew Cross, Brandon Cross and six great grandchildren; siblings, Delores "Dee" Vander Giesen, Don Wichers and Vickie Collicott and her sister-in-law, Rita Wiens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry and her parents.

A visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the Dove Southwest Funeral Home. A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00am on Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, KS 66614.
