In Memory Of
William L. "Bill" Lindeman
1935 - 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Retired Topeka Fire Captain, William L. Lindeman. Bill, a longtime resident of Meriden, KS passed away on January 24, 2024, at the age of 88 in Oskaloosa, KS. He was born on October 7, 1935, in Louisville, KS, to his loving parents, George W. and Rena C. Pyle Lindeman and was the youngest of 7 children. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

Bill, will be deeply missed by his children: Jeff Hudspeth, Rebecca Lindeman, Rhonda Rziha (Mike), and Terry Lindeman (Lara), eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored him dearly.

Throughout his life, Bill had a remarkable career serving his community. He dedicated himself to the safety and well-being of others as a Topeka Fire Department Captain and First Responder. As a testament to his commitment, Bill was part of the very first class of First Responders and received certification from Kansas University.

In 1958, Bill married Barbara Hudspeth, and together they welcomed their children into the world. They later divorced in 1982. In 1985, Bill found love again when he married R. Joyce Griffin. Their marriage was a source of strength and companionship until Joyce's passing in 2017.

Bill enjoyed gardening, auto mechanics and bodywork, as well as owning and operating a lapidary business.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 29, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota, Topeka. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. We invite all who knew and loved Bill to join us in bidding him farewell and honoring his memory.

Bill's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time. Click here to view the service.

In lieu of cards and flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital Burn Center. This cause was close to Bill's heart, and he would be grateful for any contributions made in his memory.
