Shirley A. Potter, 74, of Topeka, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at her home. She was born March 31, 1938 in Camden, NJ to Lester and Camilla (Fussell) Kee. She was one of eleven children. She grew up in a christian environment and later gave herself to the Lord.
Shirley married Charles R. Potter on July 13, 1974 in Camden, NJ. They moved to Topeka from New Jersey in 1990. She retired from Kansas Insurance as an administrative secretary.
Charles preceded Shirley in death on October 29, 2005. She was also preceded by her parents, her sister, Marie Thompkins, her brother, Lester Kee, Jr., one son, Charles Johnson, and three granddaughters, Roseanne Johnson, Diamond Vance and Mya Vance.
She leaves to mourn 8 children, Joseph Johnson, Sr., Michael Johnson, Jerome Johnson, Leah Mayo, Debra Williams, Kyle Johnson, Theresa Vance, and Charles Potter, Jr.; 30 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 5 brothers, 3 sisters and a host of family and friends.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Oct. 8, 2012 at 11:00AM at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.
