Alan Ray Twidwell, 75, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Midland Hospice. He was born October 1, 1938, in Beldear, Nebraska, the son of Elbert and Wilma Twidwell.
Alan was a 1956 graduate of Marysville High School and was employed by USD 501 as a security coordinator for 32 years. He also worked as a park ranger at Shawnee Lake and assisted in the re-establishment of the Washburn University Police Department.
On June 1, 1980 in Topeka, Alan married Marge K. Gilpin. She survives.
Other survivors include son, Scott Twidwell; step-daughter, Laura Ferrell; step-son, Eric Axlund; grandchildren, Zachery Twidwell, Nathan Twidwell, Caleb Twidwell, and Tiffany Twidwell; step-grandchildren, Alex Axlund, Caleb Axlund, Josh Axlund, and Matthew Ferrell; and brother, Dean Twidwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Twidwell.
Memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, Kansas 66610.
