Albert Clifford "Al" Hubbard, Sr., 70, of Topeka, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at a Topeka hospital. He was born May 15, 1945 in Nowata, OK, the son of Robert and Fern Thompson Hubbard. He was a decedent of the Cherokee Nation.
Al was an Air Force Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Sears, Pruitt Appliances and Ed Marlings as a service technician. He later worked for the State of Kansas SRS and the Department of Revenue before retiring in 2007. He was a member of The Apostolic Church of Topeka for over 43 years.
Albert married Alandra C. Brown on November 18, 1967 in Columbus, OH. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Kendra Hubbard, Albert Clifford (Melanie) Hubbard, Jr., Jason Hubbard, Natalie Hubbard and his furry friend, Wagley, four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, his mother, Fern Hubbard, three sisters, Virginia Hubbard, Vertle Lewis, Jocelyn Hubbard, two nephews and a host of cousins and friends. Al was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at The Apostolic Church of Topeka. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Al will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Apostolic Church of Topeka, 2313 SE 29th St., Topeka, KS 66605.
