Aletha "May" (Ferris) Jackson, 90, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012.
She was born May 1, 1922, in Osawatomie, KS, the daughter of Robert & Florence (Phelon) Ferris.
Mrs. Jackson worked as a waitress in various Topeka restaurants for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening and painting. "May" never met a stranger and was born with a hug in her heart.
May married Eugene Earl Jackson on April 8, 1940, he precedes her in death. Survivors include five children, Rolland (Norma Jean) Jackson, Judy Melson, Betty (Cecil) Cutler, Russell Jackson and Randy (Lisa) Jackson; fifteen grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; six siblings, Ethel Lewis, Ella Nicolay, Bob Ferris, Elbert Ferris, Ruth Hilton and Eldon Ray Ferris.
She was preceded in death by her husband; four siblings, Rolland Ferris, Geraldine Tindell, Anna Belle Ferris and Ralph Ferris.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Cross Road Community Church, 512 S. Mason St., Scranton. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the church. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
