Alex L. Link, 76, of Topeka, Kansas passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, after a long battle with Parkinson's.

Alex was born on November 26, 1943 to Alex and Mary Link in Worland, Wyoming. Alex joined the Navy shortly after high school graduation. He was stationed in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor for most of his service time and chose to remain in Honolulu after his discharge. He worked as an artist, mainly selling Black Velvet oil paintings. He married the love of his life, Dixie Shelton in December 1968. They moved to San Jose, California but returned to Honolulu two years later. Alex continued to paint and attended the University of Hawaii. He earned a BA in Mathematics. After that, Alex worked for the State of Hawaii until 1989, when he and Dixie moved to New Mexico, and after a brief time there, they moved to Topeka, Kansas. Alex worked for Kansas Department of Transportation until he retired in September of 2010.

Alex was a very accomplished artist and photographer. He had a lifelong interest in art (oil painting), music, photography, and puzzles. He played the guitar, ukulele, and various types of flutes.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie and two sisters; Lorraine Leach (Bill) and Mary Jane Belden & her family; two nieces: Jackie Belden of Azle, Texas and Debbie Seawright (Randy), three great nephews; Cory (Lydia), Casey (Halee), Chandler Seawright and six great, great nieces and nephews of Midland, Texas. He is also survived by three sister-in-laws: Carol Brandl (John) & three children: Travis Brandl (Lori), Zack Brandl (Anna) & Melissa Brandl; Carmen Wilds (Allen) and daughter, Wendy Wilds; Cee Heller (Greg) and two daughters, Mandi Blackwell (Kevin) and Kelli Kniffen (Max); nephew, Kenny Shelton (Kathy); plus numerous great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by Mary and Alex J. Link (parents), Ray Belden (brother-in-law), Leroy Shelton (brother-in-law) and Neil Shelton (brother-in-law).

Cremation has taken place and as per his wishes, a private Celebration of Alex's Life will be held at a later date. Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. is assisting the family.
