Alexis Helen "Lexie" Wendland, 12, of Berryton, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Lexie was born January 29, 2001, in Topeka, daughter of Richard and Gina (Grosfield) Wendland. She is the twin sister of Brooke Wendland.
Lexie attended Berryton Elementary School, and was looking forward to going to Shawnee Heights Middle School in the fall.
She loved her animals, jumping on the trampoline, and teasing her twin sister, Brooke. Lexie was an avid swimmer, and would spend hours swimming in her pool during the summer. She enjoyed singing and dancing, and was often known to make up lyrics and dance routines.
Lexie is survived by her parents, Rick and Gina Wendland, of Berryton; twin sister, Brooke Wendland; grandparents, Kay Wendland, of Topeka; and Larry (Norma) Grosfield, Mesa, AZ; aunts, Stacey Wendland, Paulette Schwerdt, both of Lawrence; and Nicole (Sean) Selvidge, of Topeka; uncle, Neal Grosfield, of Lawrence; and cousins, Nathan and Jessica Selvidge.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Helen Grosfield, and grandfather, Richard Wendland.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3625 SW Wanamaker Rd. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00–7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker, Topeka.
