Alfred L. Wright Jr., 68, of Topeka, passed away at his home Wednesday, June 12, 2013. He was born on August 10, 1944 in Osage City, to Alfred L. Wright Sr. & Sylvia J. Wright Coe.
Alfred "Al" graduated from Osage City High School, and he served in the US Army Reserves. He was employed by Goodyear Rubber Co in his early years, and later went into Real Estate, working for Century 21, Coldwell Banker Griffith & Blair, and Land Kansas.
Al is survived by his sons, Jeffery H. Wright of Topeka, Ron Wright (Carrie) of Hutchinson; and daughter, Lynley Leaverton (Keith) of Topeka. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Price (Charles) of Wakarusa, Nancy Overholt (Floyd) of Shawnee; two brothers, Richard Wright of Overbook and David Wright (Connie) of Osage City; 4 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Al was loved by all.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Arlene Wright; two sisters, Pat Orender, Wanda France; 2 nephews and 2 nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 17th at Christ Lutheran Church, 3509 SW Burlingame Rd., Topeka, KS. Interment will follow at Penwell Gabel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alfred L. Wright Memorial Fund c/o Christ Lutheran Church.
