Alfred Gillio Succi, 86, passed away on December 17, 2005, at the Olive T. Jones Health Center in Topeka.
He was born to Gilio (this is correct spelling) and Edith Vandevord Succi on a farm near Burlingame on May 25, 1919.
He was a farmer, stockman and gardener all in Osage and Shawnee Counties. He always enjoyed planting a garden and loved to share the produce with friends and neighbors.
Alfred attended Pleasant Valley School District #67 in Osage County. He dropped out of school to work with his father in the coal shafts in Osage County for a period of ten to twelve years.
He and Betty Marie Flohrschutz were married at the home of her parents in Topeka on March 18, 1950 by the Reverend R.R. Schreiber. They celebrated 55 years of marriage this year.
Survivors include his wife Betty, two sisters, Lorena Croucher, Osage City; Mary Elizabeth Tyree, Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Glen e. Succi, Burlingame, seven nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Penwell-Gbael Southeast Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Burlingame Cemetery. Alfred will lie in state after 12:00 noon Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. that evening.
