Alice June Spurgeon, 78, Topeka, formerly of Deepwater, MO, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Presbyterian Manor.
June was born on June 3, 1932 in May, OK, the daughter of Pearl and Goldie (Long) Crooks. She graduated from May High School.
She owned and operated June's Beauty shop in Salina for 10 years before moving to Deepwater, MO. She owned and operated Kountry Meadows Restaurant for 15 years, retiring in 2000.
June married Roy Spurgeon on November 25, 1989. He died September 14, 2010. Survivors include daughters, Teresa (Jim) Burkett, Topeka, Barbara Pile, Topeka, Sandra (Dave) Myers, Catoosa, OK, Stefanie Collett, Cowgill, MO; step-daughter, Laura Spurgeon, Deepwater, MO; eight grandchildren; sisters, Vita Briant, Blossom Knudson; and brothers, Cecil, Franklin, Haskell, Delbert, and Raymond Crooks. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
