Alonzo "Tee" Abrams Contee

 Alonzo “Tee” Abrams Contee, 91, of Berryton, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025 at home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born February 16, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Cora Contee and Alonzo Abrams. He graduated from Douglas High School. He served in the United States Air Force from September 1955 – November 1964 as a supply truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He played football, softball and track during his time of service, winning the World Wide Softball Championship in 1960. He also set several impressive records while running track during that time.

He was employed with Del Monte Foods for a few years, he also did janitorial work for Du Pont. He worked as an oiler for Good Year Tire for 30 years until retiring.

Tee was a member of the Esquire Social Club. He was also a member of a bowling league.

Tee married Eugenia Watson on June 30, 1959 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include son, Gregory Contee (Sherrie), grandchildren, Antuan Hamilton (Kristi), Christopher Contee (Rebekah), Marcus Contee (Talya), Sierra Doby (Brian), Angela Contee, and Steven Contee, great grandchildren, Pashara, Asia, Dermaine, Fazon, Leyton, Hadley J, Desireé, and Lynnix, 7 great great grandchildren, sister, Laura Christian and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jewell Contee, son Duane Contee, granddaughter, Dominic Contee, brothers, Harry Johnson and Lloyd Abrams, several sisters, and brother-in-law, George Christian.

Tee was an all-around athlete. He participated in various sports including baseball, softball, football, and track. He loved seeing this passion continue on through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed bowling and LOVED his food! He always looked forward to family get-togethers which happened often.

Tee’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2025 at Dove Cremations & Funerals Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka, KS 66605. The services will conclude at 4:00 p.m.
