Alva "Jean" Anderson, 79, of Topeka passed away on December 15, 2017. Born August 27, 1938, in Newark, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Blaine and Geneva (Sutterfield) Williams.
She attended Wichita North High School.
Early on in life Jean was a beautician. She then worked for several grocery stores as a meat wrapper. She attended Johnson County Community College where she obtained a secretarial certificate. Upon graduation she worked at Unisys as an administrative assistant, where she retired after many years.
She enjoyed playing games with her church friends, interior design, her dog, Oscar and traveling, but what she loved most of all was her family. Jean was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church.
Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Judy L. Miller.
She is survived by four children; Richard Hollaway of Haysville, Jeanette Miller of Killin, AL, Michael Hollaway of Olathe, and Eric Hollaway of Topeka, one step-son, John Anderson, eight grandchildren; Renee, Nikki, Brandy, Sara, Caleb, Emily, Dustin, and Samantha, 9 great-grandchildren; Lily, Teagan, Ryan, Farley, Harper, Anthony, Isabella, Josephine, and Daniel and five siblings; Paul Williams of Wichita, Bennie Williams of Wichita, Jerry Williams of Elkhart, TX, Shirley Ciociola of NC and Nancy Marks of TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mount Hope Cemetery.
