Alvin May

Alvin J. May, 78, Topeka, KS died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Fairlawn Heights Nursing Home.
He was born March 25, 1927, in Tegarden, OK the son of Albert and Thelma 'Lenz' May.
Alvin was in the U.S. Navy and Army Reserve. He worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. After that he was a General Construction worker. He married Mary Ann 'Pierson' May on June 4, 1947 and divorced on June 10, 1970. Children born from this union was Shirley Harris, Burlington, KS; Wileta 'Willie' Hughes, Denison, KS; Ronald May, Silver Lake, KS; Donald May (died 01/28/1971); Pete Filby, Topeka, KS ; Katie Beachner, Branson, MO; and Leatrice 'Lea' Jim, Mayetta, KS.
Grandchildren are Gayle Powell, Burlington, KS; Troy Taylor, San Francisco, CA; Jerad Hughes, Denison, KS; Ivan May, Silver Lake, KS; Jennifer Landis, Burlington, KS; Katrina and Earllena Filby, Topeka, KS; and Cassandra and Marianna Jim, Mayetta, KS. Great Grandchildren are Tanner and Travis Taylor, Burlington, KS; Natalie Taylor, Pittsburg, KS; Maryssa and Evan May, Silver Lake, KS; and Eric, Michael and Jessica Landis, Burlington, KS.
Other survivors include a sister, Betty Jones, Muscatine, IA and a brother Calvin May, Hugoton, KS.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka, KS.
