Andrew P. Bervert

April 22, 1934 — April 17, 2022

Andrew P. "Andy" Bervert, 87, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022. He was born April 22, 1934 in Topeka, the son of Joseph Paul and Elizabeth (Swartz) Bervert.

Andy graduated from Topeka High School. He was a founding partner for Greenbrier Realty. He was a member of the Arab Shrine.

Born in the middle of the Great Depression, Andy knew the value of family and hard work. From a young age, he learned and later instilled in us the importance of a job done well. He loved spending time with his family, from holiday celebrations to impromptu get togethers. Yet we all agree that some of our favorite memories with Andy were spent on his boat where he patiently taught all of us to water ski, no matter our skill level. A day at the lake with Andy meant sharing laughter, trying out whatever new water toy he had purchased, and chipping in to clean the boat before we all went home. We honor Andy by continuing his legacy.

Andy married Lois L. Gill. She preceded him in death in 1974. He later married Joan C. Dotson. She survives. Other survivors include children, Tim (Julie) Bervert of Topeka, Tammy (Pat) Oblander of Silver Lake, Susan Phagan of Topeka, Bradley Bervert of Overland Park, Kansas, Leslie Baird of Joplin, Missouri, Kristine Bishop of Branson, Missouri, Chad Hight of Carbondale, Cody Hight of Topeka, step-children, Mark Hight of Dover, Theresa Hight of Topeka, eight grandchildren, Shawna Hein, Jason Bervert, Tyrian Phagan, Shandy Grist, Heather Phagan, Jake Bervert, Andon Bervert, Brandyn Bervert, many great-grandchildren and his siblings, Dorothy Bervert of Topeka and Irene Young of El Paso, Texas.

Andy was preceded in death by his brother, James Bervert.
