Anna A. Swanger, 88, of Topeka, passed away Friday, December 17, 2004 at Plaza West Health Care Center in Topeka.
She was born September 5, 1916 in Cleveland, MO., the daughter of J.J. and May Myers.
She and her husband operated Swangers Cafe in Lyndon for many years. After retiring from the cafe, she went to work as a nurses aide at several nursing homes in Topeka. She also worked at Horizon Hamburgers until 2001.
She married Daniel Gale Avers. He preceded her in death in 1956. She later married Joshua Swanger. He preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel Avers; a grandson, Jerry OBrien; two sisters, Catherine Avers and Jean Brown.
Survivors include a daughter, Vauncille Cottrell of Topeka, a son Ronald Avers of Belleville, IL; two sisters, Vivian Wymore of Topeka and Mildred McMichael of Homer, Alaska, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Mrs. Swanger will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 19, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will recieve friends from 5-7:00 p.m. that evening. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
