Annie Bina Isbell-Sides, 94, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2006 in Burlington, KS. She was born on December 10, 1911 in Somerville, TX, the daughter of George W. Sr., and Amelia Ubernosky Isbell. She graduated from Caldwell High School in Caldwell, TX, attended Southwest Texas University, and Texas A & I, in Kingsville, TX, receiving a degree in Elementary Education. She taught second grade at Taft Independence School in Taft, TX. Mrs. Sides was a life long member of the United Methodist Churches in Taft, Brenham, and Mathis, TX, and Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church in Tecumseh. She taught Sunday school for many years, had 3 terms as president of UMW, and served as Chairman of County Home Demonstration Council of San Patricio CO., TX. Ann married Oran E. Sides on July 3, 1937 in Corpus Christi, TX. He preceded her in death in 2001. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jan Oran and Nancy Sides, Topeka, granddaughter and husband, Cecilia Ann & Brian Smith, Topeka, grandson and wife, Jon Oran & Amy Sides, Burlington, great- grandson, Hayden Oran Sides, Burlington, sister-in-law, Maye Isbell, Beaumont, TX, and sister-in-law, Mary Isbell, Houston, TX. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and sisters. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum, 3616 SW 6th Street. Ann will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. today at the funeral home, the family meeting with friends from 6-7 p.m. this evening.
