Arlene Booth Thompson, 81, of Otis, KS passed away on August 22, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born July 15, 1934, daughter of Oran and Flora Booth in Cambridge, KS. Her early life was spent in and around the Cambridge area. She graduated from Cambridge High School and Arkansas City Junior College.
Arlene married Wayne Thompson on October 10, 1954. She is survived by her husband, Wayne and four children: Mark (Mary) Thompson of Topeka, KS; Kirk (Joyce) Thompson of Lancaster, KS; Kala (David) Blochlinger of Goodland, KS; and Jill Schauer of Trenton, GA; one brother, James "Jim" (Linda) Booth of New Strawn, KS; two sister-in-laws, Jo Booth of Eustace, TX and Sonja Booth of Clearwater, KS. She was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Booth of Eustace, TX and Richard Booth of Clearwater, KS. Arlene was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
After raising her family, she returned to school and graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She worked in the library and taught for many years in the Otis Bison School District. After retirement, Wayne and Arlene enjoyed spending time at their lake house near Camdenton, MO.
Arlene loved family gatherings and cooking meals for everyone. She was known for her caramel/cinnamon rolls, homemade bread, and cloverleaf rolls. She enjoyed working outside in her vegetable and flower gardens. Arlene was an avid KU basketball fan!
A service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Otis, KS on September 7, 2015 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Otis-Bison School.
