Arlene Vinyard Mahrle, 85, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018.
She was born on August 21, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Howard and Josephine (Baker) Vinyard. Arlene married Donald A. Mahrle on October 25, 1956 in Chicago. Together, they moved to Topeka in 1960 for Donald to start his podiatry practice.
After her family, Arlene's greatest loves were golf and travel. She was a member and active golfer with the Topeka Country Club for 28 years, serving as Chairman of the Women's Golf League in 1995. Her love of travel and cruises took her to nearly all parts of the globe – even Antarctica!
Arlene is survived by her husband, Donald, her children Nancy Mahrle Oliker (St. Louis Park, MN), Laura Mahrle (Topeka), Dewey Mahrle (Scranton) and granddaughter Elizabeth (Topeka).
A devoted Catholic, a mass celebrating Arlene's life will be held on Monday, June 18 at 10:30 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church. Preceding the mass will be a rosary prayer service at 9:15 AM followed by visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
