Arlene V. Zima, 91, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook KS.
She was born on November 16, 1926 in Richland, KS to Art and Flora Cole. She was a graduate of Berryton High School.
She married Joseph R. Zima of St. Marys, KS on October 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1997. Together they owned and operated Zima Grocery in Topeka, KS for several years. Arlene later worked for Montgomery Ward, and retired from the Fleming Company.
She is survived by children, Joseph W. Zima (Janet), Janet E. Lindgren (John), Nancy L. Zima, and Kathy A. Zima-Sauer (Mike). She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Lindgren.
Arlene will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 37th & Wanamaker Road. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Southwest Chapel. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Berryton, KS.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Midland Care Hospice.
