Arlie H. Brown, 93, of Topeka, formerly of Perry, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at a Topeka hospital. He was born January 1, 1919 in Watson, KS, the son of Harry and Annie Wilch Brown.
Arlie graduated from Berryton High School in 1938. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He was a heavy equipment operator for Shawnee County and the City of Topeka. He and his wife owned and operated Brown's Antique's and Furniture Shop located at 37th and Burlingame for 11 years before retiring in 1975 and moved to Perry.
Arlie married Opal M. Brown on March 20, 1943 in Shawnee County. She preceded him in death on September 18, 1993. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Olive Combs and his brother, Edwin Brown. Arlie is survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Lexington Park Assisted Living for the special care that was given to Arlie.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday on the Garden Chapel in Topeka Cemetery. Burial will follow. Arlie will lie in state from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
