Arnold John Ruecker, Jr., 75, Silver Lake, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015.
He was born July 24, 1940, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the son of Arnold, Sr. and Delores (Pothen) Ruecker. Arnold graduated from Anaheim Union High School in 1958 and attended Washburn University. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Panama Crisis.
Arnold worked as a plumber & pipe fitter, retiring after 40 years. He was a member of the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, Good Guys Car Club, the Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union in California & Wichita and the NRA. Arnold and Fran traveled for 10 years with Children of the World, together they fostered 27 children and adopted 12. He sang with a Crossroads Quartet for many years and loved to rebuild his garage full of old cars.
On October 5, 1963 he married Fran Wells in Long Beach, CA. She survives. Other survivors include fourteen children, Dayna (Doug) Smerchek, Chandler, AZ; Arnold J. (Sarah) Ruecker, III, Fulton, MO; Tuyen (Graham) Luce, San Francisco, CA; Tuan (Shawn) Ho, Irvine, CA; Katie Ruecker, Wichita, KS; Wendi Ruecker, Kileen, TX; Raymond (Kate) Ruecker, Mission, KS; Lyndelle (Aaron) Anderson, Topeka; Anthony (Marissa) Ruecker, Denver, CO; Breanne Knavel, Chanute, KS; Tamorah (Ted) Pacheco, Topeka; Angela (Mike) Fisher, Topeka; Karen Ruecker, Topeka and Jessica (Jared) Ritchey, Topeka; one sister, Ardell (Lee) Gebhart; 31 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by services at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene. Interment with military honors will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery.
