Arthur W. Blaylock, Jr., 87, Topeka, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
He was born Aug. 31, 1917 in DeSoto, KS, the son of Arthur W. and Helen Plummer Blaylock. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1935.
Mr. Blaylock was a farmer for 30 years near DeSoto. He moved to Topeka in 1956 and retired from Stormont-Vail Hospital in 1982.
He was a 50 year member and past master of DeSoto Lodge #40 AF&AM. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies in Lawrence and a 50 year member of DeSoto Chapter #78, OES. He was also a member of Crestview United Methodist Church and a Kiwanis Club in Topeka.
He married Gladys Marie Bond on May 20, 1943 in DeSoto. She died May 10, 1999. Survivors include his daughter, Janet Kay Blaylock, Topeka, and a son, Larry Blaylock, Kansas City, MO; brother, Fletcher Orville Blaylock, Topeka; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 am Monday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
He will lie in state after 9 am Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 515 S. Kansas Ave, 66603.
