Arthur F. Elbert, 53, of Topeka, died January 31, 2014 at The House at Midland Care. He was born November 10, 1960 in San Diego, California, the son of Robert and Velda (Long) Elbert. He traveled a lot during his childhood years and attended school in New York, Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, and Alabama.
He married Diane M. Bertke on January 1, 1982, in Perryville, Missouri. They moved to Huntsville, Alabama where he continued his education. In 1985, they relocated to Kansas for a job at Repair Facility as an Electronic Engineering Tech. He was employed at Northrop Grumman for 29 years.
He loved anything that dealt with the water. He enjoyed making wine, spending time with his family, working on his old truck, and going to car shows.
Art found out he had cancer two years ago. He did not want people to know. He never wanted someone to feel sorry for him. He fought his battle hard. He did not complain about treatments or the pain he was in. He would still get up and try to go the work next like nothing was wrong.
Art is survived by his wife Diane, his two children Angela and Bobby, and his granddaughter Hayley. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service from 3-5 PM on February 6, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 4PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Cir.
