Arthur Reddick

Arthur Samuel Reddick, 80, Topeka, died Thurs., April 3, 2008, at Colmery-O'Neil VAMC. He was born Feb. 4, 1928, at Hennpin, Illinois, the son of A.S. and Eula B. (Taylor) Reddick.

Art was a U.S. Army Cpl. during the Korean Conflict and received the Purple Heart. He was a mail clerk at the Docking State Office Building before retiring. Art was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, as well as American Legion Post #1.

He was married to Mary V. Burns. They were preceded in death by a son, Harold Reddick.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years: Mary V. Reddick of the home; 2 daughters: Debra Reddick of Topeka and Ginger Reddick of Houston, TX; 2 sons: John Reddick of Escondido, CA and Michael Simpson of Topeka; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren one (great grandson) which preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wed., April 9, 2008, at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 610 SE Lime. A Ft. Riley U.S. Army detail will conduct military honors at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Art will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tues., at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
