Ashton Paul Rucker, 35, Topeka, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City.
Ashton was born July 3, 1985 in Topeka, the son of Eric and Joan (née Falk) Rucker. He attended Cair Paravel Latin School and graduated from Chapman High School in 2003. He later obtained his Bachelor's of Arts in English Literature from Washburn University in 2011.
Ashton was employed as a Public Information Employee with the State of Kansas Department of Health & Environment and later with the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
Ashton was a very kind and gentle man. His understanding manner and his sincere compassion for others was a testimony to the power of Christ's love in his life. He will be remembered as one who was thoughtful and cared deeply. He was peacemaker. Ashton attempted to mediate controversy, worked to discover common ground, and promoted the idea that you should always try to see the other person's point of view. Ashton enjoyed creative writing and the arts and would encourage others to foster their own talents. Of the many things that Ashton valued, none was more important to him than his son, William. Ashton entrusts William to the care of William's wonderful mother, Shannon, who will teach him the value of following after Jesus. Ashton attended Western Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include Ashton's son, William Rucker, Meriden; parents, Eric and Joan Rucker, Topeka; and siblings Eric Nathanael Rucker, San Francisco, CA, and Halston and Kristen (née Sudbeck) Rucker, Topeka. Private graveside services will be held at the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington, Kansas.
