Aubrey D. Thomas, 101, of Berryton, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at McCrite Plaza in Topeka. He was born September 2, 1916 in Queen City, Missouri, the son of Orin and Lillian (Kerd) Thomas.
Aubrey was an Army Veteran during WWII. He resided in the Berryton and Tecumseh Communities since 1947. Aubrey was employed by U.S.D. 450 as a School Custodian for Berryton Grade School, Berryton High School and Shawnee Heights High School for 27 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Berryton United Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer for 18 years and the Berryton Kiwanis Club.
Aubrey married Lera Rettig on April 13, 1979 in Berryton. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2003. He was also preceded in death by one step-daughter, Jeanie Boudreau on June, 2016.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Dianna Wadley of Berryton, four granddaughters, Teresa Hatfield, Tracey Losh, Becky Conroy and Stephanie Payne, seven great-children, Carter, Trevor, Carleigh, Aaron, Logan, Jamie, Jessie and one step-son-in-law, David Boudreau of Kankakee, Illinois.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Berryton United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. on Friday. Burial will follow in Lynn Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Berryton United Methodist Church, 7010 SE Berryton Rd., Berryton, Kansas 66409 or to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
