Aubry Williams

Aubry Williams died Tuesday, Oct. 6, at home surrounded by family after a valiant 3 year battle with anaplastic ependymoma, a brain tumor. She was 15.

Aubry was born July 2, 1994 in Columbus, Ohio. She moved to Topeka with her family in December 1994. She attended Jay Shideler Elementary, Washburn Rural Middle School and was a sophomore this year at Washburn Rural High School. She loved playing the flute and dancing. She took dance at Fuzion School of Dance where her favorite classes were jazz and tap. She also loved to play softball and was most recently on the Southwest Youth Athletic Association team, Riptide.

Aubry was a courageous, thoughtful, generous young lady with a quiet grace whose smile could light up a room. We will miss her smile's glow, her sense of humor and her enthusiasm for life. She seemed to start everyday as if it were a new adventure.

She is survived by: her siblings Michael and Mary Williams; her mother: Mary Franz, her father: Jim Williams; grandparents: Conrad and Mary Franz, and Lee McManigal; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by 2 special friends; Andrea Marshbank and Sydney Ho.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations be made to Aubry's Angels fund at CoreFirst Bank and Trust, 3035 S Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66611 (monies going toward her dream of a Rosary Garden at her church); St. Baldrick's Foundation (an organization that helps fund research on childhood cancers and sponsor training for pediatric oncologists) at www.stbaldricks.org or by mail: St. Baldrick's Foundation, Tribute Program, 1443 E. Washington Blvd, #650, Pasadena, CA 91104; or to the Marian Clinic, 1001 SW Garfield, Topeka, KS 66604.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 4 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5972 SW 25th Street, Topeka. Cremation will follow the Mass.
