Augusta Mae Richardson

Augusta (Gusty) Mae Richardson, 69, of Topeka. Gusty passed peacefully on October 21, 2024 in Topeka KS.

She was born December 23, 1954, in Holton, Kansas. She was third child of Lester LeRoy and Elsie Nadine (Neal) Wheeler. Gusty grew up in Circleville KS community and was a 1973 graduate of Jackson Heights High School.

Gusty met the love of life while working at Stormont Vail Hospital. She married Edmond Richardson Jr. on December 26, 1975. They enjoyed 42 years together before his passing in 2017.

Gusty worked in Insurance for numerous years before her health would no longer allow her to work. She took pleasure in volunteered as the cook for Emmanual Baptist Church Child Care Center for several years.

She was a member of Covenant Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Tonja Williams, Amy Richardson, Kandace Richardson, and Jenniffer Richardson, all of Topeka: her siblings, Wayne (Sue) Wheeler of Circleville, Kenneth Wheeler of Westmoreland and Rebecca (Becky) (Steve) Milne of Wetmore, brother-in-law Timothy (Roxanne) Watts of Colby, 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her In-laws Edmond Sr. and Sharon Richardson, William (Bill) and Freda Watts. Her brothers-in-law Michael Richardson and Daniel Richardson.

When her health would allow her to, she would do needlepoint and sewing. Her love for cooking and baking could been seen around the dinner table. She enjoyed watching KU basketball, the KC Royals, and The KC Chiefs Football. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always willing to show someone pictures of her family.

Honoring her request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2024 Covenant Baptist Church, 5440 SW 37th St, Topeka, KS.
