Barbara Jean Clark, 94, of Topeka, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor. She was born May 1, 1927 in Sedan, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas N. and Amanda Laura Jane (Funkhouser) Kidd.
Barbara graduated from Sedan High School and earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Washburn University. She was employed as a Licensed Mental Health Technician and a Corrections Officer for the State of Kansas for 32 years before retiring in 1990. She was a founding member of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church where she served as a Trustee, was on the Mother's Board and sang in the church choir. She later attended New Mount Zion Baptist Church and St. Luke Baptist Church. She was also involved in the Topeka Citywide Choir and the City Mission.
Barbara married Claude A. Clark on May 8, 1943 in Topeka. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Georgetta Thompson and her sisters, Fanelle Kidd and Ruby Mae Jewett, and her brother, Travis Kidd.
Survivors include her cousins, Robert R. West, Sr. of Topeka, Sandra K. Lassister of Topeka, her sister-in-law, Kay Clark of Topeka, nieces and nephews, Linda E. Canady of Topeka and Joyce M. Evans of Topeka, Valerie A. Evans of Topeka, Ron Evans of Tucson, Arizona, Greg Evans of San Francisco, California, Chris Evans of Topeka and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends.
The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. and burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Barbara's services will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
