Barbara Jean Collins, 91, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. She was born September 17, 1929 in Topeka, the daughter of Carl R. and Iva M. (Branson) Forsberg.
Barbara was employed at Harry's IGA and later started her own cleaning business which she operated for over 20 years. She attended the Oakland United Methodist Church.
Barbara married George Montgomery. They later divorced. She later married Jimmie D. Collins, Sr. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by two sons, William Montgomery and Jimmie Collins, Jr. and her brother, Carl Forsberg, Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Laurie (Joe) Perez of Topeka, six grandchildren, Brian Montgomery, Heather (Brent) Duffield, Ashleigh (Kyle) Meredith, Megan (Bradley) Sparks, Dustin Wherrell and Justin (Kassie) Wherrell, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
A private Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place in Scranton Cemetery.
Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with arrangements.
