Barbara Jean (Murphy) Dahlstrom, 88, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016. She was born August 11, 1928 in Topeka, the daughter of Bennett F. and Zelma E. (Johnson) Murphy.
Barbara graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Sterling College. She was employed by Josten's Yearbook Company for 28 years prior to retiring. She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church, the Highland Park High School Alumni Association and served as a Union Steward.
Barbara married Ralph "Swede" Dahlstrom on April 16, 1948 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2006. Survivors include her two children, Steven M. (Sylvia) Dahlstrom and Greg L. (Becky) Dahlstrom both of Topeka, one grandson, Jason (Jill) Dahlstrom of Gardner and twin great-granddaughters, Riley and Kyla Dahlstrom.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Bethel Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Barbara will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave., Topeka, KS 66605.
