Barbara J. Anderson

Barbara J. Anderson, 66, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at her home. She was born on October 30, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Manley and Florence E. Robinson Tubbs. She moved to Topeka in 1957. She was employed as a nursing assistant for the Colmery -O'Neil VA Medical Center for many years before retiring. She also was a Bus-Para for Shawnee Heights School District No. 450. She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Barbara married Phillip L. Anderson, Jr. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Annette E. Hall and Cheryl Smith (Moshiri) of Topeka, five sons, Mark Anderson (Lena), Kenny Anderson, Dana Anderson and Andre Anderson all of Topeka and Rodney Anderson (Gale) of Maryland, sixteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Manley Tubbs of Kansas City, MO and Stanley Tubbs of St. Joseph, MO and three sisters, Debbie and Retha and Terrie all of St. Joseph, MO. She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Antonio and one granddaughter, Shaunta' Wheeler. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Barbara will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
