Barbara Jean Camblin, 76, of Topeka, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born October 21, 1937, in Gideon, Missouri, the daughter of Bill and Monzell (Macom) Mumma. After attending Senath High School, Barbara received a Bachelor's degree from Arkansas State University where she was a member of Alpha Kappa Gamma Sorority, and received a Master's degree in Education at Emporia State University.
Barbara married Alvin Lee Camblin on August 13, 1960 in Topeka. A wonderful and dedicated teacher for 28 years, Barbara touched the lives of many students at Tecumseh North Elementary, Tecumseh South Elementary, Sunny Elevation Elementary, and Crestview Elementary. Barbara enjoyed gardening, antiques, and traveling.
Mrs. Camblin was a member of the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Prairie Land Depression Glass Club, all of Topeka.
Barbara is survived by her husband, of the home; two sons, Clayton (Jeannie) Camblin and their children, Austin, Colin and Megan of Cooper City, FL and Bradley D. (Barbara) Camblin and their daughter, Hailey, of Gilbert, AZ; a brother, Martin D. (Marie) Mumma, Polson, MT; and a brother-in-law, Paul Camblin, Woodland Hills, CA.
Barbara was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be 2 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606, in appreciation of their special care during Barbara's final days or Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, 6020 SE 44th St., Tecumseh, KS 66542.
