Barbara Jean (Medford) Tipton, 79, of Topeka, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 13, 2016. She was born October 23, 1936, in Coffeyville, Kansas, the daughter of Andrew and Alta (Jackson) Medford.
She was a graduate of Coffeyville High School and received multiple degrees in education related fields from Pittsburg State and Kansas State Teachers College.
Barbara was employed by the Seaman School District as a teacher and administrator for many years, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Topeka.
Barbara married Cecil Tipton on June 15, 1992, in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Survivors include three step-children, Linda K. (Stephen) Mercer and Charles W. (Pamela) Tipton of Topeka, and Kathy A. Tipton of Fulton, Texas.
She was also preceded in death by nine siblings.
Interment of the cremated remains will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka at a later date.
