Barbara J. McDowell, 84, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
She was born November 20, 1938, in Derby, Iowa, the daughter of Walter Tracy and Bernice Marie (McMains) McNay.
She graduated from Derby High School in 1957 and attended Kirksville State Teachers College.
Barbara was a co-owner and realtor for Greenbrier Real Estate, retiring in 2000.
Mrs. McDowell was a member of the Topeka Association of Realtors.
Barbara married Bob McDowell in 1975 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on July 11 of 2018.
Survivors include her two sons, Mike (Donna) Botkin and Jeff Botkin. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Ron McDowell (Joann) of Wichita, KS, Robb McDowell (Kay) of Topeka, KS, Rick McDowell (Diana) of Tulsa, OK, and Becky McDowell of MN; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Coral and brother Walter Rex McNay.
Barbara enjoyed her family, sewing, bible study and her dog, Lucy. Bob and Barb enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to Colorado, Texas and many other destinations, most of the time with their friends they made in their RV group.
Honoring Barbara's request, cremation is planned. Please join the family for a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 2nd at Fellowship Bible Church, 6800 SW 10th Avenue in Topeka. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
