Barbara Jean (Lilley) Stanley, 82, Topeka passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at Midland Hospice House.
Barb was born November 7, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the daughter to Daniel and Viola (Crossland) Lilley. She attended Western College for Women in Oxford, OH, Kansas State University and earned a master's degree from Washburn University.
She met George William Stanley, Jr. at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. They were married on June 12, 1954. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1989.
Barb was an educator and administrator for the Topeka Public Schools Outdoor Education Program for many years. She was a lifelong learner.
Mrs. Stanley was an active member and Stephen Leader at First Presbyterian Church and involved with the Presbytery of Northern Kansas. She volunteered with Camp Fire Girls and Boy Scouts, Meals on Wheels and was a member of P.E.O. Chapter DF, Junior League of Topeka, Western Sorosis and numerous bridge and book clubs.
Survivors include her children: Mark (Ellen) Stanley, Dee (John) Killough, Jeanie (the late William) Wilking, Ginger Stanley, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She loved people and dogs, enjoyed travel and was a hostess extraordinaire. She was deeply committed to her church, friends and family.
Memorial services will be 10:00a.m. on Thursday, November 17th at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison St., Topeka. Private inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church and Meals on Wheels of Topeka.
