Ben Eaton

December 13, 1937 — October 5, 2015

Ben "Bennie" Eaton passed away October 5, 2015, at a local hospital. He was born on December 13, 1937 to Paul and Geraldine (Strickland) Eaton in Lenora, Kansas. He attended and graduated from Concordia High School, recently celebrating his 60th class reunion.

Bennie married Carolyn Pracht and later divorced. Bennie then married Jane "Janey" Githens on January 28, 1995.

Bennie worked as an automotive mechanic for many years. He also worked in Topeka and Lawrence for K-Mart, Wal-Mart, TG&Y and Rose Muffler.

He served in the Kansas National Guard and was a member of the Lawrence Masonic Lodge, and the NRA. Bennie enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching professional football and Nascar racing. He willingly volunteered his time, alongside Janey, with the annual MDA telethon. Bennie enjoyed the company of his dogs, friends, and family.

Bennie is survived by his wife, Janey; his sister, Linda Yingling; his brother, Terry Eaton; his five children, including Tammy (Lloyd) Hysten and Ben (Nicole) Eaton Jr.; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom Eaton, and his sister Paula Rockhold.

We will celebrate Bennie's life with family and friends at Dove Cremation and Funeral Services on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. Masonic Rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. by the Lawrence Masonic Lodge.
