Benetta Marie Grady-Bennett, 67, of Scranton, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022.
She was born February 5, 1955, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Ben and Velma (Rice) Ogle. She graduated from Seaman High School in 1973 and attended Washburn University. She also attended the University of Wisconsin to learn the dynamics of horseshoeing and then worked as a self-employed farrier for 35 years.
Benetta also worked at the Veterans' Administration hospital in Topeka.
Mrs. Grady-Bennett was a member of the Wild Women of the Frontier (playing Carrie Nation) and was one of the founding members of the Brush Busters Saddle Club.
Benetta married David Wayne Bennett on April 20, 1996 in Lyndon, Kansas. He survives, along with her brother Lewis Ogle of Osage City, KS and her half-brother Fred Smidt of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother David Ogle (killed in Vietnam) and her sister Janice.
Benetta loved horses.
