Benny B. Jewell, 80, Topeka, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004 at his home.
He was born June 14, 1924 in Burlingame, the son of John and Bertha Place Jewell. He attended Fostoria Grade School and graduated from Burlingame High School. He had lived in Topeka over 52 years.
He worked for the Topeka Supply Depot and later at the US Postal Western Area Supply Center before retiring in 1983.
Mr. Jewell served in the US Army. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and on the organizational committee for Luther Place.
He married Eleanor Johnson Stovall on Nov. 14, 1952 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Kathy Anderson, Chicago, Ellen and George Irwin, Tecumseh, Barbara and Kenny Jessop, Topeka, brother, John and Kip Jewell, Overbrook, sisters, Hazel Jewell, Wichita, Donna and Charles Bull, Burlingame, grandchildren, Kelly and Steve Patton, Leander, TX, Chad Irwin, Austin, TX, Dea and David Polzin, Haslett, TX, Scott and Beth Jessop, Atlanta, GA, Kenny Wayne Jessop, New York City, Danielle and Michael Sullivan, Topeka, Rebecca and Luke Bradbury, Winston-Salem, NC, Owen Anderson and friend, Marie Claire, Japan, great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Jaxon Sullivan, Kyzer Polzin, nieces and nephews, many adopted grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ronald Dean Stovall, and greatgrandsons, Drew and Mission Patton.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel with interment in Topeka Cemetery.
Mr. Jewell will lie in state after 9:00 am Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will recieve friends from 6:30-8:00 pm.
