Bernice Verlene Evans

Bernice Verlene Evans, 91, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
She was born January 28, 1932, in Hartford, Kansas, the daughter of Walter and Mary Anna Leigh (Vermillion) Gunter. She graduated from Reading High School in 1950.
Bernice was employed by the State of Kansas Insurance Commission for 26 years, retiring in 1994.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the Topeka Bible Church, of Topeka.
Bernice married Amos Lindsey Evans on August 4, 1950 in Reading, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2012.
She is survived by her two children, son, William "Bill" (Connie) Evans and daughter, Debra "Debbie" Evans.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Ladene Whittington, and a brother, Kenneth Gunter.
Bernice enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday December 19, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd Topeka, Kansas 66610. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hills Cemetery, 8616 SE Ratner Rd in Berryton, Kansas. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
